There are five candidates running for three seats on the Board of Directors for Wasatch Peaks Credit Union. Voting instructions and ballots will be made available to members 18 years and older at the beginning of February. The results of the Board of Directors Election will be announced at the 2015 Wasatch Peaks Annual Meeting that will be held on Thursday, March 5th at the Junction Megaplex Theatres in Ogden.

    Ronald Hill—Incumbent

    Mr. Hill has served as a volunteer for the credit union since 2004 and on the Board of Directors since 2007. Ron holds a Master's Degree in School Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Psychology, and Sociology. He was a Weber School District teacher for 32 years in elementary education, secondary education, special education, and special programs. Ron has been a credit union member for 43 years. He enjoys cooking and collecting cars and has been involved with the Weber Education Association and the International Dutch Oven Society.

    Gary McDaniel—Incumbent

    In 1972, Mr. McDaniel began serving the credit union for nine years on the Credit Committee and was then elected to the Board of Directors in 1981. He has served for eight years as Chairman of the Board. Gary joined the Ogden Government Employees Credit Union in 1966. He witnessed the credit union grow from 3,400 members and $2 million in assets to its merger into Alliance Credit Union to its most recent merger into Wasatch Peaks Credit Union with 32,000 members and $262 million in assets. He retired from the United States Forest Service in 1995 after more than 30 years.

    Curtis E. Smout—Incumbent

    A lifelong resident of Weber County, Curtis graduated from Weber State College with a degree in Business Management. His 33 year career in higher education began at Weber State. He retired after 26 years as the Director of the College Center and Auxiliary Services at Salt Lake Community College. Curtis has served in leadership positions on national college associations and boards. He is General Manager at Myers Mortuary. Mr. Smout has been a credit union member since 1966 and began serving on the SummitOne Credit Union Board of Directors in 2005.

    Neil Hansen—Candidate

    Mr. Hansen has worked with Ogden City for 24 years and has 12 years of legislative service as a Utah State Representative. Neil has served on the Ogden Municipal Employees Credit Union Board of Directors for 3 years and on the Supervisory and Auditing Committees. Neil was born and raised in Ogden, graduated from Ogden High School, and attended Weber State University. He has eight children and six grandchildren. Mr. Hansen enjoys following local and national politics. Also, he likes camping, boating, and water skiing.

    Sherry A. Tuttle—Candidate

    With more than 25 years of combined experience in business, leadership, management, and real estate, Sherry takes great pride in ensuring that the expectations of her clients are always achieved with an unwavering commitment to treating everyone as she would prefer to be treated. A native of the Wasatch Front, Sherry has a passion for all that Utah has to offer. She loves spending time with family (husband, two married children, two grandchildren, and two Siberian huskies). Additional passions include traveling, boating, skiing, snowshoeing, and golfing.
